Dragon Alliance today announced the inclusion of power-surfing native and Evans Head local, Callum Robson to its roster of athletes. The inclusion injects an explosive addition of high-energy surfing and radical progression to an already star-studded cast — just in time for Pipe.
“Have you ever heard the phrase: “Like a bull in a china shop”? Well, if Callum is the bull, you’d hate to own the shop… taking a demolition derby-style approach to any lineup he finds himself in.” — said Dragon’s Australian Surf Team Manager, Tully Wylie.
“We’re thrilled to announce the inclusion of Callum to our roster of athletes. Callum takes a no-fuss approach to his surfing and brings a unique perspective to our team. He is such a steely competitor, fuelled by a belief in his surfing and his approach to heats that belies his age. He’s such a great guy too so it makes it so easy to get behind him and we are excited to see the energy he’ll bring to the World Tour this year.”
“It’s been great to see this new wave of young Aussie surfers fight their way onto the ‘CT and chase their dream, and I’m sure everyone would’ve taken notice of Callum’s performance against the best in the world at Haleiwa. Pair this with his efforts at the US Open and it really highlights how versatile a surfer he is and why we have no doubt that he is going to claim some pretty big scalps in his rookie year on tour.”
“It’s an exciting step forward for the brand, building a roster of upcoming, talented young athletes to help propel us forward and build for the future, and we’re stoked that we have the opportunity to work with Callum. We can’t wait to see him stick it to the best in the Billabong Pipeline Masters over the weekend with a good-looking swell for the start of the waiting period, we are sure it won’t be short of excitement”.
