In a world constantly demanding your attention, it’s easy to think that Dragon’s surf team consists only of Mick, Dorian, and Rob. Dragon’s eye for talent extends to over 30+ years, as proved by the fact that the Dragon sticker on Mick’s board has been there longer than any other. These signings of now-legendary athletes show how important having a crop of young guns, itching to prove themselves and challenge the status quo is to a brand like Dragon, which built its foundations on doing things its own way.

“2024 is about honouring the past while looking to the future,” says Ged (Dragon’s Aus/NZ Brand Manager). “We’ve always had a deep connection to the core surf community, and this new generation of talent brings fresh energy and creativity to our team.” This clip was shot over just six days, wedged between Australia’s 2024 CT and CS schedules. “We didn’t have much time to line up the athletes for filming” Ged explains. “Most of our team is either on tour or aspiring to be, so their schedules are packed. We decided to just point the camera at them during the pre-event surfs at Bells, Margs, and Snapper.”

The clip features rising stars, Hughie Vaughan, and Dane Henry, alongside tour regulars Crosby Colapinto, Seth Moniz, Sawyer Lindblad, tour alumni Sophie McCulloch, and the newest addition, George Pittar. Each bringing their own unique style. While Mick’s frontside wraps, Dorian’s pioneering big wave exploits, and Rob’s style have undeniably shaped generations of surfers, their legacy is assured.

Now is a time for a new generation of surfers to begin shaping their own legacy, born of innovation and honed by a fire to redefine what is possible. 2024 is the “Year of the Dragon” and with this young crew driving the brand forward, it’s pretty safe to say, the story doesn’t end here…
