Oakley is thrilled to announce the continuation of its partnership with Surfing Australia and the Hyundai Australian Boardriders Battle (ABB) for the 2024/2025 season. Building on an impressive 11+ years of collaboration, Oakley remains a cornerstone of this iconic initiative, marking the longest partnership in the history of the Hyundai ABB.

The Hyundai Australian Boardriders Battle stands as Australia’s premier grassroots boardriders event, showcasing the exceptional talent and spirit of over 70 of the nation’s best boardriders clubs.

As the official eyewear partner of the 12th series of the Hyundai Australian Boardriders Battle (ABB), Oakley is proud to be the longest standing partner of the renowned event.

“This partnership reflects our unwavering commitment to the surfing community and the grassroots movement,” said Beau Emerton, Oakley Athlete & Events Manager, ANZ. “We are proud to support the Australian Boardriders Battle as it continues to foster local talent and celebrate the vibrant surf culture that Australia is renowned for.”

Oakley Team Riders, including Jarvis Earle, Sierra Kerr, Mitch Peterson & Rosie Smart will be representing their home clubs with their eyes on the title.

15 year old Oakley team rider Mitch Peterson said: “The ABB QLD qualifying round held in Coolum was absolutely amazing to be a part of.  I am super proud to have represented my club Noosa and so stoked that we won and are QLD Champions.  It is the first time Noosa has won the final so to be part of the team was such an honor. It’s the team element that really makes this event so good as we don’t get much of that in surfing.  The ABB trials and finals are the biggest event on the club’s calendar, and we are all looking forward to the National Final next year at Burleigh.”

Surfing Australia CEO Chris Mater said: “The Hyundai Australian Boardriders Battle event stands as a celebration of our nation’s surfing spirit, uniting communities, and athletes like nothing else in the sport. Oakley is woven into the very fabric of this gathering, embodying a deep respect for the boardrider clubs that champion our sport. At this event, we come together not just to compete, but to uplift and inspire one another in the pursuit of being the best boardriders club in Australia”

The competition kicked off in Trigg Beach, WA in mid September and the competition will unfold over eight state qualifying rounds, all leading up to an exhilarating Grand Final in March 2025 at Burleigh Heads.

Next March will see 42 clubs converge at Burleigh Heads for the highly anticipated grand final, where they will compete for the series title and the coveted title of Hyundai Australian Boardrider Battle champions. This event not only highlights the skill and dedication of Australia’s top surfers but also strengthens the bonds within the community, encouraging camaraderie and sportsmanship.

As part of the upcoming Hyundai Australian Boardriders Battle, fans and participants won’t want to miss the Oakley “Battle Cage” team exchange area, where all the action will unfold. Attendees can look forward to a dynamic atmosphere filled with excitement and competition.

In addition to the thrilling surfing events, Oakley will be awarding numerous prizes, including the prestigious “Prizm Performer” award, which will be presented at each event to recognize the best overall surfer.

The Hyundai ABB’s unique format and community-focused approach have made it a vital platform for surf clubs across Australia, and Oakley is excited to play a pivotal role in this journey.
